Cringe! Chris Pratt criticised over "healthy" child comment
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Chris Pratt praised his wife for giving him a "healthy daughter", but many feel the comment was insensitive considering his son with his ex-wife has health issues.
'Jurassic World' star Chris Pratt has come under fire over a post he shared to honour his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.
The actor praised his "greatest treasure" in a lengthy post on Instagram. But instead of oohing and aahing over the sweet message, many felt a comment he made about their child was a little shady.
"Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!? We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter," Chris wrote.
The 42-year-old also shares a son with his ex-wife, Anna Faris. Their son, Jack, was born nine weeks premature in 2012.
Anna talked about Jack's health issues in her book, 'Unqualified'.
"The pediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and me down to tell us that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled. I was in complete shock … So Chris and I did what we could, which was hold hands and hope and face it together,” PEOPLE quoted her as saying.
She added: "Jack had a few surgeries. He had a few hernia surgeries, he’s had a few eye surgeries, and he had a little heart issue as well.”
Their son is doing much better these days, but still suffers from a heart problem, which is not considered life threatening.
Given Jack's health issues, social media users say they are shocked by Chris's choice of words.
"Yeah, lost respect for you in this post for multiple reasons.. sad," one Instagram user commented.
"All of this is cringe but it’s especially gross considering his kid with Anna was born with health issues," a Twitter user wrote.
Some labelled Chris an '***hole'. "Chris Pratt just seems awful from top to bottom," a tweep commented. Scores of people are also flooding Anna's social media pages with words of support.
"Powerful, brave, strong and stunning mother. You and your son deserve the WORLD!!!!!" one woman wrote on Instagram.
Another added: "You are the best mom in the world! I wish you the best, you deserve the best! I really admire you."
the culture of "my wife moves mountains for me, sacrifices her personal happiness for mine, is way out of my league in every way, and I am..a man who does nothing for her in return haha🥰 men, get you a woman who's serving you while you just sit there!" is so toxic and must die. pic.twitter.com/qE2QAvO692

As a mom with a special needs son, and a stepdaughter who is 'normal' this is repulsive. Special needs kids have so many struggles against social stigmas, they don't need a parent throwing shade at them too. Poor Anna Faris having to coparent with this crap. https://t.co/8bHWwzAfzV

Chris's fans have come to his defence.
"Him and his ex have an agreement for him to not talk about his son. Y’all need to look this s**t up before judging someone else," one commented.
"Hahaha it’s adorable how people think they can know something about someone else’s life based on one internet comment, " a second person wrote.
I honestly don't get the hate for Chris Pratt's post to his girlfriend. Is the guy not allowed to move on and gush about his new partner? It's creepy how invested people get into celebrities love lives.
