Creepy clown pranks force Ronald McDonald into ‘hiding’
Updated | By East Coast Radio
One of the world’s most famous clowns is
keeping a low profile thanks to a creepy clown prank.
Fasts food chain McDonald’s has revealed that its clown mascot, Ronald McDonald, will be cutting back on community appearances until further notice.
The move is as a result of the creepy clown craze gripping America.
The prank, which has spread to other parts of the world, sees people dressing up as clowns and trying to scare people, including children.
Some pranksters walk around with knives and other scary objects.
A number of people have also been injured while carrying out the prank after their victims tried to defend themselves.
Police in areas like Georgia and North Carolina have received numerous calls from concerned residents who have spotted creepy clowns lurking in the community.
Some of the sightings turned out to be false reports, which has left officers furious.
“It is alarming to the public and a drain on police resources,” a Greensboro, North Carolina spokesperson told People magazine.
Despite numerous warnings against carrying out the scary prank, it shows no signs of slowing down.
With Halloween around the corner, the craze is likely to stick around until the holiday ends.
Until then, it looks like Ronald McDonald will be staying well under the radar.
