Chinese orphans’ emotional reunion in America
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This video of two best friends from an
orphanage reuniting after 11 months apart will melt you heart.
Four-year-old Hannah and three-year-old Dawson lived together at an orphanage in China since they were babies.
Hannah’s mother reportedly abandoned her because she had a cleft lip, while Dawson, who suffers from a condition that causes fluid to enter his brain, was left at the orphanage because his parents were unable to look after him.
When Hannah was adopted in 2016, by Americans Andy and Sharon Sykes, the best friends probably thought they would never see each other again.
Sharon told Fox 4 Dallas that her family noticed the close bond the two children shared during the adoption process.
“When we toured the orphanage, and I saw their response to each other, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh. We can’t leave this boy in China.”
When the Sykes family returned to their home in Texas, Sharon made it her mission to help find Dawson a family.
She took to Facebook to share their story, and was overjoyed to find a family who lived close by who were willing to adopt the boy.
Amy and Chris Clary, who already had three children – all under five, began the adoption process to bring Dawson to Texas.
Eleven months later and Hannah and Dawson were reunited at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
A video of their reunion has gone viral. The kids were so happy to see each other again, they reportedly hugged 400 times.
