Children survive bridge fall after dad attempts murder-suicide
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This is nothing short of a miracle.
A father’s attempt to kill his two sons, aged one and three, and himself failed after they miraculous survived being flung over a bridge.
He did not survive.
The man drove to a bridge in Wanaque, New Jersey with the boys after a domestic dispute with their mother.
He allegedly stormed out of the house while
threatening to kill them.
The woman called police, who tracked down his whereabouts using his cell phone.
When officers found his parked car on the bridge they discovered that it was unoccupied.
They immediately started searching the woods below the bridge fearing the worse.
When they located the father and his sons they
were shocked and relieved to discover that the boys were still alive.
One of the boys suffered a bruised lung, while they both had concussions.
They are recovering in hospital.
Police are still investigating how the father managed to get the boys over a “suicide prevention” fence on the bridge.
“It is nothing short of a miracle. Fortunately, the trees ended up breaking some of the fall for the children,” police told PIX11.
