Keanu Reeves has teamed up with New York Times-bestselling author China Miéville to write an action-packed fiction novel called, 'The Book of Elsewhere'.

The book was officially released this week. It is already a bestseller on several Amazon book lists.

Speaking to Stephen Colbert on 'The Late Show', the 59-year-old actor says China is one of his favourite authors.

"We've been working on this for years and this was like a dream," he said.

According to a synopsis on Random House Books, 'The Book of Elsewhere' tells the story of an immortal warrior who, at 80,000 years old, does not want to live forever anymore.

"He has had many names: Unute, Child of Lightning, Death himself. These days, he’s known simply as 'B.'  And he wants to be able to die. In the present day, a U.S. black-ops group has promised him they can help with that. And all he needs to do is help them in return. But when an all-too-mortal soldier comes back to life, the impossible event ultimately points toward a force even more mysterious than B himself. One at least as strong. And one with a plan all its own."

The book is inspired by another book Keanu co-wrote. The actor, known for his roles in 'The Matrix' and 'Sweet November',  made his comic book series debut in 2021 with 'BRZRKR'.

His latest book is set in an alternate universe to the one mentioned in the BRZRKR series.

In a separate interview with BBC News, Keanu admitted that he thinks about death all the time, but not in a negative way.

"I'm 59, so I’m thinking about death all the time. Hopefully it’s not crippling, but hopefully it’s sensitised [us] to an appreciation of the breath we have, and the relationships that we have the potential to have," he said.

Keanu's former co-star Sandra Bullock also recently talked about death. Their 1994 Hollywood blockbuster 'Speed' turned 30 in 2024.

Sandra, whose partner Bryan Randall lost his battle with ASL in August last year, said in an interview on the '50 MPH' podcast that she would love to work with the actor again.

"Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera, Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?” the 59-year-old joked.
