"I have all the faith in our criminal justice system," says Boity after opening a case of assault.
Boity Thulo has confirmed that she was the victim of a "vicious physical altercation" this week. She released a statement on Saturday about the incident.
News broke on Friday that the rapper was injured in a fight at a hotel in Johannesburg. The altercation took place on Thursday evening.
The City Press named Bujy Bikwa as the other person involved in the altercation. Eyewitnesses claimed that the pair were drinking and talking before things suddenly turned violent.
Bujy allegedly threw a bottle of alcohol at Boity's face which reportedly left a cut on her face. She was allegedly taken to the hospital after the altercation.
While Boity did not name any names, she confirmed that she opened a case of assault.
"It is with deep sadness to state that I was indeed an unfortunate victim of a vicious physical assault and that I have since opened a case against the culprit, which I am following with a keen interest," her statement read.
The 'Wuz Dat' rapper says she is healing after the "traumatic experience".
"I respectfully request some space as I try (to) find a way to heal both physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience. I have all the faith in our criminal justice system and implore everyone to stand firmly against GBV."
According to several reports, Bujy spent Thursday night in a prison cell.

Several celebrities, including Mihlali Ndamase, Melanie Bala and Buhle Samuels, say they are "sending lots of love" to the star after her ordeal.
"Will be praying for you, sis. It's quite unfortunate that such things happen here," one Instagram user commented.
Bujy, meanwhile, has remained mum on social media following the incident.
Who is Bujy?
Bujy Bikwa is radio and TV presenter. He is also a DJ. The media personality is no stranger to controversy.
He was reportedly arrested in 2017 following a "brawl" with his neighbour in Orange Farm. His younger brother Mpumelelo was reportedly also involved in the fight.
Bujy told Drum magazine at the time that he was just defending himself.
“Before I went out, I got out of the car to see my brother and while I was there we saw that guy and his brother coming to us with a baseball bat and a knife. When they got to us they started attacking us and that’s how the fight started. My brother and I had no weapons. They brought the weapons and me fighting was to defend myself and my brother. I did not stab anyone," he told the publication.
