Ben Affleck shares relatable parenting moment

"I have the money. You’re broke." 'The Accountant 2' actor had a funny response to his teenage son eyeing a pair of $6,000 (R110,000) must-have sneakers.

Ben Affleck's reported net worth might be $150 million, but when his son Samuel asked him to buy an expensive pair of sneakers he didn't just hand over his wallet.

Samuel and his dad were at a sneaker convention in Los Angeles when the 13-year-old spotted a pair of Dior x Air Jordan 1s.

You don't have to be brand-conscious to know that Dior and Nike Air Jordan, in the same sentence, can only mean one thing – a huge price tag.

The sneakers retail for up to $6,000 (R110,000).

The shoes are in high demand, with some resellers asking for $27,000 (R495,123).

Air Jordans have been a hit with sneaker lovers since the '80s. They were made popular by basketball legend Michael Jordan who debuted the first pair in 1984 as part of a shoe deal with Nike.

Michael Jordan or not, Affleck was not prepared to pay $6,000 on sneakers.

Affleck, who shares Samuel with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, had the best response to the teen: "You like those because they're expensive... That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there."

Samuel appeared unfazed by his dad's reluctance and continued to plead his case.

"No, they're tough," he replied, which is teen talk for cool and stylish. "I've always said that they look good."

We could totally see Affleck sweating as he watched his son fawn over the shoes.

Access Hollywood interviewed the father of three at another event a few days later and asked him if Samuel had started mowing the lawn.

'The Accountant 2' actor said that, when it came down to it, no lawns had been mowed.

"That’s what happens when you tell a motherf***er they have to mow the lawn. All of a sudden, they don’t want those shoes,” he teased.

"He’s like, ‘We have the money.’ I’m like, ‘I have the money. You’re broke!’”
