Apple, Pilot Inspektor, and X Æ A-12: Ten unusual celebrity baby names

Choosing the perfect name for a child is sometimes one of the hardest decisions for a parent. While some look to family members and stars for inspiration, some pick names that are out of the ordinary. 

Celebrities are known for giving their children unusual names. Kylie Jenner recently revealed the name of her baby boy with Travis Scott. 

The beauty mogul named their son Wolf. As strange as the name seems, it has become a common name in recent years. Rapper Eve also named her newborn son Wolf.  She welcomed her first child with businessman Maximillion Cooper on February 1. 

Their son's full name is Wilde Wolf Fife Alexander Somers Cooper.

Wolf is a popular name in countries such as Germany, America, and Austria. Kylie named her firstborn Stormi.

Her big sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kim Kardashian have also given their children unique names. Some of the Kardashian children's names include North, Psalm, Chicago, Reign, True, and Dream.

Apple 

Gwyneth Paltrow and her then-husband, Chris Martin, raised eyebrows in 2004 when they decided to name their daughter, Apple Blythe Martin. 

"When we were first pregnant, her daddy said, 'If it's a girl I think her name should be Apple.' It sounded so sweet, and it conjured such a lovely picture for me, you know. Apples are so sweet and they're wholesome, and it's biblical," Gwyneth told Oprah in an interview.  

The couple chose a more traditional name for their second child, Moses. 

Powerful Queen 

Nick Cannon has come under fire in recent years for having children with multiple women. He revealed last year that he had four children with three women in the space of six months on purpose. He made headlines in January when he announced that he is expecting his eighth child with a fifth woman.

His children have some interesting names. He shares twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with Mariah Carey. He is also dad to Powerful Queen,  Zillion Heir, Zion Mixolydian, Golden and Zen. 

His youngest child, Zen, sadly passed away in December.

Moon Unit

Late American musician, Frank Zappa, and his partner Adelaide Gail Zappa chose unique names for their children. They named their eldest daughter Moon Unit. Moon's siblings are called Dweezil, Diva Muffin, and Ahmet - which is a popular Turkish name. 

Cosmo

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost named their first child together Cosmo. The actress also has an older daughter named Rose. 

Pilot Inspektor

Antarctica

Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn chose the name Lyra Antarctica for their daughter. He revealed the meaning behind the name in an interview on the British morning show 'Lorraine'. He says he wanted his daughter to have a unique name. 

"I realise some people think it's quite a strange name. But my wife's called Cherry, and she is the only Cherry that I've ever met and I think that she's the only Cherry that she's ever met and I quite like that... In my class at school, there were probably more Eds."

Atlas

'Pretty Little Liars' actress Shay Mitchell is known for her love of travel. So, it came as no surprise when chose the name Atlas for her first child with actor Matt Babel. The star recently announced that she is expecting her second child. 

Cricket

'White Chicks' star Busy Philipps named her daughters with husband, Marc Silverstein, Cricket and Birdie. 

“Since I grew up with a nickname — Busy being short for Elizabeth — when my husband and I started to have our babies, we decided that if wanted to call our kids something, we would just name them that thing that we wanted to call them. I like the names. I think they’re cute," Busy told the 'TODAY' show. 

Sir 

Beyonce and her husband Jay Z have three children together. Their eldest daughter Blue Ivy's name is just as unique as her siblings. Their names are Rumi and Sir - but you can call him Sir Carter! 

X Æ A-12

South African-born billionaire, Elon Musk, has seven children, but it's his youngest who is grabbing all the headlines. The SpaceX creator named his son with singer Grimes, X Æ A-12 also styled X Æ A-XII. He explained the meaning of his son's name shortly after his birth.  But the verdict is still out on how the boy's name is pronounced. 

"It's just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I," Grimes said on Instagram. But Elon revealed on a Joe Rogan podcast that the name is pronounced  "X Ash Archangel". Elon sometimes calls his son "Little X".
