Adele opens up about her "revenge body": I did it for myself
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"People have been talking about my body for 12 years," says Adele following her nearly 50kg weight loss journey. She adds that it is "disappointing" that women body shamed her the most over the years.
Adele says her desire to work out more was never about weight loss. The 'Hello' hitmaker got real about her dramatic transformation during an interview with Vogue magazine.
She says people have been talking about her body for 12 years. The 33-year-old has been body-shamed online over the years, but never let the hate get to her.
Adele quietly lost nearly 50kgs over a two-year period. The world was understandably shocked when a picture of the singer wearing a black mini dress surfaced online.

Adele tells Vogue she started exercising to cope with her anxiety, not to get a revenge body after her divorce, as people assumed.
“It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day," she told the publication.
She admits that her workout routine is not doable for a lot of people, but it worked for her.
“So I do my weights in the morning, then I normally hike or I box in the afternoon, and then I go and do my cardio at night. I was basically unemployed when I was doing it. And I do it with trainers.”

Adele stressed that her weight loss was all about herself.
"I did it for myself and not anyone else."
Adele is also on the cover of American Vogue. She says most of the negative comments about her weight over the years were from women.
"...the worst part of the whole thing was that the most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very f---ing disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings," she said.

"I played him my album just a week before he passed, over Zoom," she told British Vogue. Adele had a rocky relarionship with her father, but says they made peace before he died.
"One thing that definitely happened in my divorce was that it humanised my parents for me. Big time. I went to hell and back! And in that I found the peace to forgive him. He was ready to go and he lasted a long time with it. So thank you.”
