Elections 2016: Angry Chatsworth residents protest a lack of service delivery
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Angry residents living in an informal settlement near Link Road just off Higginson Highway in Chatsworth, south of Durban, say they will not be voting today.
Brandishing posters of: “No water, no vote”, the residents - some residents of ward 70 have taken to the streets in protest this morning.
Some residents have been without water for more than three weeks.
Resident, Bhekani Shangase has told Newswatch they they have not had water for the past three weeks. They've accused ward councillors of not caring about their needs.
"As you know when you go to vote - you need to stand in a long queue. How are we going to stand in these queues when we didn't eat, cook or bath. We need water to do all of this. So we can't vote," he said.
