According to the IEC official site, 78% of votes have been counted nationally. In KZN, 54. 65% of votes are attributed to the ANC, 22.64% to the IFP, and 15.35% to the DA at 5pm today.
Nationally, the ANC leads with 53.63%, the DA is at 27.41% and the EFF at 7.4%. Supporters in Ulundi and Nongoma are celebrating following news that the IFP is leading in that region.
Before midday an IFP motorcade had already been driving around hooting and with some speakers blarring IFP songs.
After circling the town, where they were met with ululation, the crowd then proceeded to the Zululand District Municipality as celebrations continued.
Police were called to the offices where the crowd had been singing “we’re taking the district back” outside.
