SA records 330 new Covid-19 cases, positivity rate falls further

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 331 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
This brings the country’s total laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 920 109.
The institute says the latest increase represents a 1.1% positivity rate.
A further 53 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 88 987.
75 of the new infections were reported in Gauteng, the highest number on Tuesday for all the provinces.
There has been an increase of 45 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 4 069 people currently admitted in both public and private facilities.
The latest data from the National Department of Health shows that 2 714 560 Covid-19 digital vaccination certificates have been downloaded by Tuesday afternoon.
This while 196 080 vaccines were administered.
