SA record less than 500 new cases

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 429 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.
This brings the country’s total cases to 2 906 851.
The institute says the latest increase represents a 2.6% positivity rate.
An additional 39 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 87 819.
Western Cape is leading with 93 new infections.
“The majority of new cases today are from Western Cape (22%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (21%). Gauteng Province accounted for 19%; Free State accounted for 10%; Eastern Cape accounted for 9%; North West accounted for 8%; Northern Cape accounted for 7%; Mpumalanga accounted for 3%; and Limpopo accounted for 2% of today’s new cases,” the NICD said in a statement.
There has been an increase of 52 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
There are 6 166 people currently admitted to both private and public facilities for treatment.
This while 184 324 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered on Monday.
