Covid-19 positivity rate continues to drop

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says 2 783 new Covid-19 cases were recorded over the latest reporting period.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2 892 081.
The increase in new cases represents a 6.8% positivity rate.
The majority of new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal (22%), followed by the Western Cape (18%), while the EasternCape accounted for 15%.
A further 155 Covid-19 relates deaths have been reported, bringing the total death toll in the country to 86 655.
A total of 16 755 133 vaccines have now been administered in the country, with 181 408 vaccines given over the last 24 hours.
