Zuma meets potential voters ahead of ANC manifesto launch in PE

As the battle to woo voters intensifies ahead of the Municipal Elections, ANC president Jacob Zuma has been on a walk-about in Port Elizabeth meeting prospective voters across the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
It's all part of the build up to the ANC's election manifesto launch at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Addressing the media at the Uitenhage taxi rank earlier today, Zuma said the Metro has a historical importance as many ANC leaders and political prisoners have come from the city.
"It's therefore an important place to come to, to make this presentation to the nation. We have therefore decided to come some days before to meet the people, to let the people of this area know why we are here and also to emphasize the importance of this city - of this metro," he said.
The ANC-run Nelson Mandela Bay Metro is expected to be extremely tightly-contested in the August poll with incumbent Executive Mayor Danny Jordaan and DA Eastern Cape leader and mayoral candidate Athol Trollip hoping their respective parties will emerge the victor.
