"The way forward is where God takes us": Sodwana Bay Guest House owner
Updated | By Christopher Motabogi, Khatija Nxedlana
The owner of the embattled Sodwana Bay Guest House says he's not even pondering his future after a decision to close the establishment.
Andre Slade's been embroiled in controversy owing to his decision not to accommodate blacks and government officials.
Slade's also come in for some harsh criticism from the KZN ANC leadership and the party's youth structure.
He says yesterday's events, where masses marched to show their disdain with him, were peaceful.
"The way forward for me is where God takes us. So Katarina and I are totally at the mercy of God. Wherever it goes from here as this is pretty huge- I think you can well imagine that it's going to have some repercussions," he said.
Police confirmed that charges of racial discrimination and hate, illegal trading and tax evasion were opened at Mbazwana police station yesterday.
MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikala was at the police station.
"I don't believe he is conscious of what he is doing and the impact of what he is doing. We should also send a message that it is not all people who are racist," he said.
