WATCH: Durban fees march gains momentum as students unite
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Hundreds of students from various tertiary institutions have gathered in song and dance at Curries Fountain ahead of their march to the City Hall.
More students have now arrived to join the march since this morning - including those from UKZN's Howard College.
Micheal Van Niekerk, a student from Unisa, says today's march is about unifying all students for a call for free decolonised education - which he says is being suppressed violently by universities and the police.

"As an acknowledgment of my privilege, the historical injustices that my forefathers have perpetuated that have today allowed me privileges because of the colour of my skin - it has created systems that have allowed me privileges that have been bought on the backs of black people. And I'm here today because I'm wanting to as a person, as a human being wanting to dismantle those privileges. This is one step of solidarity in that direction," he said.
