Updated | By ECR Newswatch
As recovery and clean up operations on the N3 at Townhill are expected to continue into the night, it's now been confirmed that two people have died in the multiple-vehicle crash that occurred there.
A tanker burst into flames leading to three other construction vehicles involved in the crash to also catch fire.
ER24's Pieter Rssouw says seven other people were hurt.
"Two other patients sustained about 100% second degree burn wounds. Their whole bodies were covered in second degree burn wounds. Both patients were ventilated and transported to Life Hospital in Hilton.
"The remaining patients sustained injuries ranging from serious to moderate including some fractures as well as burn wounds," he said.
