UKZN protest: Workers vow to oppose outsourcing
General workers at the University of KwaZulu-Natal have vowed to continue with their protest action until management addresses their outsourcing concerns.
Representing Union, SALIPSWU's Joe Sibiya says R2200 wages per month when workers could be earning more if employed directly by the university is an insult.
Sibiya says pension, medical aid, qualifying children of these workers studying for free at the university could be some of the benefits if outsourcing is scrapped.

He has called it sad that capital is being championed against workers' rights.
"This money, R2000, is just an airtime allowance for many of the employees of the university while bulk of their money which they are working for it is taken by these contractors. These universities are in cahoots with the people who are owners of these so-called contractors," he said.
