Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Two Kwazulu-Natal universities are among the country's tertiary institutions said to be facing financial difficulties.

UKZN and the Mangosuthu University of Technology are among 16 out of South Africa's 26 universities expected to have deficits over the next financial year - based on projections.
This has come out of Higher Education Minister - Blade Nzimande's response to a parliamentary question.
He says the universities - which also include Fort Hare, Wits, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Stellenbosch - are projected to lose a combined R3.97 billion if a 0% increase is implemented for a second year running.
Earlier this year, Nzimande said that free education was not sustainable for the country.
