Two officers gunned down in KZN

KZN police are in shock following the death of two colleagues during a shooting incident at the Nyoni Police Station on the north coast last night.
The policemen were critically wounded when one of two suspects in the holding cells overpowered them last night. It's alleged that the suspect managed to take one of the officer's firearms before shooting at them.
Spokesperson Thulani Zwane says one suspect was shot dead by police the second managed to escape.

Zwane says both officers passed away in hospital.
"Provincial Commissioner of KZN Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni was shocked to hear the news that two police officers who were shot yesterday have passed away. She sends condolences to the family, friends as well to the colleagues of these two officers.
"Two counts of murder, escaping from legal custody as well as robbery have been opened by the Nyoni police for further investigations," he said.
No arrests have been made.
