The 45-year-old was arrested yesterday at his workplace in Pinetown.

Investigators have been working on the case for years until their breakthrough.

The police's Thulani Zwane says the rapes happened between 2008 and this year.

"It is alleged the the suspect would approach the victims at gunpoint and threaten them; thereafter he would rape them. A number of cases were then opened at Verulam area, and the suspect was linked to a number of cases - therefore he was charged and taken to court today, where he was facing 11 counts of rape," he said.

The suspect will be back in court next Friday.
