Snow chasers cost KZN farmers thousands in damages
A KwaZulu-Natal farm owner says along her four farms, stretching for around 10 kilometres on Lower Loteni Road in the Midlands, snow chasers have left thousands of rands worth of damage after cutting her fences to play in the snow.
Marezelda Breet who owns the Sussex, Collegiate, Poplar Grove and White Rocks Farms says she had to call police after getting into an argument over them being on her land illegally yesterday.
"Yesterday alone on a small 10km stretch we found nine or ten places were things were broken and there were like 200 people that we have counted that were in the land," she said.
Breet adds that this is a problem farmers face every year.

"They keep on breaking fences everywhere and they go into the lands to play with the snow and they don't think that they are damaging someone else's property.
"Every single time we have snow [even if its a little bit of snow], we have these people coming and breaking fences and littering," she said.
Snow Report SA CEO Rob Ansell says they were inundated with calls this weekend from angry farmers unhappy about the situation.
Some farmers says their gates were also left open and their livestock wandered out while a pile of rubbish was also left behind.
