The SA Weather Service's Thandiwe Gumede says there will be substantial rainfall in the coming days.

"We are also expecting the snow accumulation to continue for Sunday and Monday. We're expecting the snow to become quite [significant] for those two days. We are also expecting heavy rain in parts of the province particularly over the southern parts of the province for both Sunday and Monday," she said.

The snowfall is expected in areas including the Drakenburg.

The N3 Toll  Concession has also issued a warning to motorists.

The Concession's Con Roux says they expect travelling along the route to be affected by the weather conditions.

"There is a potential for roads to be closed and one does not want to be caught up in a closure on the road. It also means that motorists should please be prepared in the sense of having warm clothes possibly blankets, food, water in case of closure, medication for anybody who may be diabetic and might be travelling," he said.
