R2K to protest outside SABC offices in Durban
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Right to Know Campaign will stage a picket outside the SABC offices in central Durban today.
The protest in K.E. Masinga Road is over what the organisation calls the self-censorship of the public broadcaster.
Demonstrations will also be held in Johannesburg and Cape Town following the SABC's decision to ban visuals of violent protests especially those destroying public property.

The broadcaster believes doing so encourages others to do the same.
The campaign's Phezu Nthetha wants the ban to be lifted.
'For us that is the censorship of the highest order. With that kind of approach, it also has to do with the independence of journalists and the dictatorship of management and the inappropriate undermining of basic labour relations,'' he said.
