Protestors block N2, N3 Spaghetti Junction
There's been a disruption on the N2 and N3 in Durban this morning with roughly 100 buses blocking the highways.
Metro police say the Durban Transport buses started off on the N2 Northbound heading South, blocking all lanes.
Metro Police's Captain Lindiwe Putuzo says the buses are currently on the N3 and the N2 split.
"Another set of buses have also blocked West Street and it's blocked all the way from Russell Street up to the City Hall. As well as around Umlazi depot, we have received reports as well but we have not confirmed it.
"We do not know at the moment what the nature of their complaint is. Up until then, we will still be monitoring the traffic and making sure that every one is safe," she said.
One motorist Greg Cox was caught in the backlog.
"There must have been close to 100 Durban Transport buses that were blocking the whole of the N2 between Nandi Drive and going up towards Spaghetti junction.
"They were trying to stop any motorists going through that section of the road. I was stuck in there for at least 45 to 50 minutes," he said.
UPDATE: Bus drivers are now protesting along the N3 near the Pavilion. Please use Old Main Road or N2, Northbound as alternative routes.
