The 14 shortlisted candidates for the post of Public Protector have been placed on the hot seat in Parliament in a marathon interview session. We're asking you, how involved should the public be in selection procedures? What qualities should the best candidate possess?
Appearing before the Ad Hoc Comittee, the candidates vying to replace Thuli Madonsela were asked tough questions in the National Assembly.
The committee will then recommend a successor to President Jacob Zuma.
Judge Siraj Desai of the High Court in Cape Town was interrogated about a 2004 incident in India where he was charged with the rape of an HIV activist - the charges were later withdrawn.
While Advocate Mamiki Goodman of the National Gambling Board was grilled about her current suspension from the board.
The NPA's Willie Hofmeyer was also questioned about the decisions behind the corruption case against businessman Schabir Shaik, and why Zuma had not been charged then.
The term of current Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela ends in mid-October where the chosen candidate will then take up a seven-year tenure.
