Officials to ensure Go!Durban is safe for commuters
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
The Go!Durban team says safety and security is a priority feature of the rapid transport system network.
Officials made the comment at a media briefing in Durban yesterday.
They provided an update on the project which is set for completion in 2030.
Head of eThekwini Transport Authority Thami Manyathi says areas where large volumes of people gather or pass through need to be properly secured.
Manyathi says they are working to ensure all commuters who use the new system feel safe at all times.
''We will ensure safety and security, especially when you have a congregation of people, we can never take that lightly.
''And we do understand that safety and its perception in public transport is important because it's when people start flocking back, leaving their cars at home and using public transport instead,'' he said.
