Ngobeni says many South Africans choose to serve fellow citizens well aware of the dangers that come with joining the police force.

"You don't have a guarantee that when you go to work you will be able to come back in the afternoon. when incidences of this nature happen it confirms that the calling that we are executing as members of the South African Police Service is very unique and exceptional," she said.

Ngobeni has pleaded with the community to work with the police in apprehending the suspect who is at large.
