Mbeki meeting EFF not special: Mantashe
Updated | By ECR Newswatch, Nushera Soodyal
The ANC says yesterday's meeting between the leadership of the EFF and former President Thabo Mbeki was not important.
The EFF met with Mbeki to ask him for his vote in tomorrow's Local Government Elections.
ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe was questioned on Mbeki's party of choice after the former president did not campaign for the ANC this year.
"Mbeki meeting the leadership of the EFF, our approach as the leadership of the ANC is that they can meet anybody and we must not stop them meeting anybody and everybody.
''There's nothing special about [former] President Mbeki meeting the EFF. I would imagine that the EFF asked to meet him and he can't run away and say listen I can't meet you. He must meet them if needs be,'' he said.

Meanwhile, the EFF's KZN spokesperson Marshall Dlamini says the party's election day plans are all in place.
"In terms of our campaign programme and everything, it went well. Our final rally in Polokwane, Limpopo had an attendance of 50 000. Everything went well, we are ready for elections. We are ready for to run municipalities in KZN,'' he said.
