Major delays after N3 truck accident
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Recovery efforts are underway on the N3 freeway in the vicinity of the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.
A crash involving a truck and two cars is causing major delays in the area.
The heavy goods vehicle, transporting scrap metal, overturned on the Durban-bound carriageway a little earlier this morning.
One man from the truck tragically died in the crash while the driver sustained critical injuries.
Netcare911's Chris Botha says both lanes on the N3 have been affected.

"A truck carrying scrap metal had come down the Southbound lane and veered right through the barrier and hit one of the traffic camera poles and took it right out of the ground and overturned into the Northbound lane. There is still a lot of metal," he said.
A woman who'd been travelling in one of the cars was taken to hospital.
Traffic in both directions has been severely affected.
UPDATE: The N3 Northbound carriageway has been cleared. Traffic flow is returning to normal.
