KZN zoo owner denies putting down six tigers

Natal Zoological Gardens and Lion Park owner Brian Boswell has denied allegations that six tigers were shot and killed two weeks ago.

Boswell who also owns the Brian Boswell Circus says protestors outside his house on Tuesday accused him of putting down more animals than were initially reported.
A tiger escaped from the park near Pietermaritzburg two weeks ago.
Boswell says although the police did not attend scene of shooting, he did have a professional hunter and a vet available.
He says people would have noticed had six tigers been walking around.
''You know it's not illegal or anything, so I don't know. They're just paranoid and they're looking for publicity.
''We're responsible people and if it's a choice between a human's life and a tiger's life, it's the tiger that has to go,'' he said.
Boswell confirmed that the figure of tigers he is accused of putting down could have happened over a number of days.
