KZN Police Commissioner, Mmamonnye Ngobeni has been suspended.
Ngobeni confirmed to Newswatch that she was served with a letter of suspension earlier today.
Ngobeni declined to grant Newswatch an interview but did say reports into her suspension are true. She says the suspension comes into effect from tomorrow.
The top cop was served with a notice of intention to suspend her last month over links to Thoshan Panday.
The businessman allegedly paid about R20 000 towards Ngobeni's husband's birthday party in 2010.
The party thrown by Panday came at a time that he was a suspect in a fraud investigation.
