KZN ANC lekgotla tackles internal affairs
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The results of the controversial conference, which was initially held in February and won by James Nxumalo, were declared null and void after members disputed the outcome.
Nxumalo and Councillor Zandile Gumede both want the job of regional chairperson.
Sihle Zikalala, the ANC's KZN Secretary, says the lekgotla will assess the progress that the party's made on tasks laid out by President Jacob Zuma in January.
He says one of the biggest issues is service delivery.
"This is what we must deal with - the capacity of the State to respond to public services that are needed by communities. The second task is the whole issue of the economic development of our province.
"We're taking up this issue with a view of looking at what we can do to stimulate the economy in townships and rural areas," he said.
The lekgotla wraps up tomorrow.
