Eskom CEO details solution to Eskom's low rating
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Eskom Chief Executive Brian Molefe says they've been able to address the concerns raised by ratings agencies over the corporate governance and leadership in the organisation.
Earlier this year ratings agencies - Moody's, Standard and Poor's and Fitch gave Eskom a negative outlook - downgrading their rating to BB plus.
Speaking in Durban this morning, Molefe said he recently met with the agencies in London to allay their concerns including the number of acting senior positions in the parastatal.
He says currently, there's only one acting position which will be confirmed by the end of the year.
"They were also concerned about load shedding, not just as it impacts Eskom and consumers, but as it impacts the South African economy. We were able to show them that we've designed a plan which allows us to do maintenance without load shedding.
"The only concern that remains is they'd like to see financial [documents] as well as assurance that Eskom will be able to remain liquid," he said.
Molefe says he is positive about the interim results that they will be announcing at end of this month.
