LISTEN: DUT students, police clash outside Musgrave hotel
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Police have used teargas to disperse a group of DUT students who had tried to storm the Coastlands Hotel in the Durban suburb of Musgrave.
The students marched to the hotel asking to see Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande.
This student - who was among the crowd of protesters - says they'd heard that the commission which is looking into the feasibility of free higher education was meeting at the hotel - situated on Peter Mokaba Road.
"Today we heard there's a meeting of Higher Education - [that] the department is here in Musgrave, so we heard that the minister is here. We want him to come out and tell us when is the day, and the time, and the place that he's going to announce we're getting free education," he said.

East Coast Radio rugby contributor, Dawn Dunn was at the Coastlands Hotel for a business meeting, and spoke to presenter, Jane Linley-Thomas earlier.
She says the students held hotel visitors and guests 'hostage' - by refusing to allow them to leave the premises.
