Durban beaches temporarily closed for clean-up

Clean-up operations are currently underway along a number of beaches in Durban which means they've been temporarily closed.
The Umgeni/Mangrove, Beachwood, Virginia and Glenashley beaches are affected.
eThekwini Municipality says several loads of medical waste washed-up on shore which could pose a health hazard to bathers.

The city's Health Unit is investigating the source of the medical waste. Officials say teams are working around the clock to ensure that all the waste is removed.
Clean-up operations could continue for as long as two weeks while all residents are advised to use other beaches until the affected beaches are considered safe to use.
