Day 1 of East Coast Radio's Project #WaterShare
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
2859 litres. That is the amount of litres of bottled water donated so far by you on Day 1 for our #WaterShare drive.
East Coast Radio launched the initiative today in a bid to lend a helping hand to areas hardest hit by the drought. The collection drive appeals to all KZN residents to drop off sealed bottles of water at East Coast Radio House in Umhlanga.
The bottles will then be distributed to the most desperate areas by relief organisation, The Gift of the Givers.
Our general manager, Boni Mchunu launched the campaign today on East Coast Breakfast.
"Whilst we pray for rain around KZN, let' s also find other ways to help. East Coast Radio is asking all communities to help us buy bottled water then bring it to our offices. From there, our friends at Gift of the Givers will help us distribute the water around needy areas in KZN," she said.
These East Coasters made their drop-off at East Coast Radio House earlier today. Listen below:
Here's how Day 1 of the project successfully unfolded.
If you'd like to help - you can drop off water at East Coast Radio House on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, or at the Gift of the Givers offices in Overport on Ridge Road and Pietermaritzburg on Willowton Road.
The project will run until Monday morning at 6am.
