DA ready for president's impeachment debate
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
DA chief whip John Steenhuisen believes ANC MP's will find themselves in a difficult position tomorrow when the National Assembly debates a motion to impeach President Jacob Zuma.
The opposition party is bringing the motion following the Constitutional Court's judgment on the Nkandla matter.
Steenhuisen says the party is busy preparing their speeches and speakers for the debate.
"The case has been made for us by the unanimous judgement by the Constitutional Court on Thursday last week which found that president Zuma violated his oath of office, had violated the Constitution and had broken the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
"This is a watershed moment for South Africa, for the very first time we have a Constitutional Court judgement which has found the sitting president had violated his oath of office," he said.
