Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Police Minister Nathi Nhleko says efforts to deal with crime in KwaMashu north of Durban need to be stepped up.

The minister's been visiting the KwaMashu Hostel which has been plagued by violent crime.
He's being accompanied by other members of the security cluster, including Justice Minister Michael Masutha.
Nhleko has raised concerns about the living conditions in the area, saying the socio-economic conditions there cannot be ignored.
"We are emphasizing on a multi-disciplinary, co-ordinated approach that assist in finding a lasting solution to the problems there. Some of the reported areas of tension, for example, is around the allocation of housing units.
"And of course, generally speaking, issues of criminality in the area have to be tackled," he said.
Four people were shot dead execution style at the hostel over the weekend.
