Clean-up operations begin at Wits University
After a day of protest action and violence at several campuses, universities closed their doors for the rest of the week.
This includes Wits, and the Universities of the Free State, North West and KZN.
The Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande pleaded with students to rather talk than protest with his spokesperson, Harold Maloka saying they have taken numerous steps to assist poor students.
Maloka said that discussion were ongoing. The Executive Council of Wits was also scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the next step.
However, Wits students vowed to continue their protest for free education while clean-up operations started at the main hall on campus on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday scores of students took to the streets following Nzimande's announcement that it was up to each university to determine the increase in tuition for 2017.
Students are adamant that they don't want an increase in fees, but free higher education.
