Bullied Cape Town waitress reportedly gets R100 000 tip
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A waitress from Cape Town has received a massive donation after she was allegedly refused a tip at a restaurant in the Observatory.
Student activist and Oxford University alumni, Ntokoza Qwabe took to Facebook to share an incident where he and a friend refused to tip a waitress, and instead wrote "We will give tip when you return the land" on the bill.
On Facebook, the #RhodesMustFall activist then posted: "She sees the note and starts shaking. She leaves us and bursts into typical white tears (like why are you crying when all we've done is make a kind request? lol!)."
The incident went viral on social media - with users posting comments in support and disagreement of the act.
Spokesperson for the Western Cape Social Development MEC, Sihle Ngobese began a trend when he personally visited the cafe and gave 24-year-old Ashleigh Schultz a R50 note. Supporters then created an online donation campaign in her name.
The online fundraiser has since raised R44 777.
Die Burger has today reported the figure to be nearing R120 000.

Mrs @helenzille you questioned 'how Rhodes chooses a "narcissist" like Ntokozo Qwabe'. Cue Stellenbosch & #MatthewTheunissen. We're waiting!

Some people have started a petition to "force" Oxford Uni to revoke Ntokozo Qwabe's scholarship because of the waitron incident.

Irony?
And now there’s a restaurant FB group calling on people to never serve Ntokozo Qwabe, and - surprise! - it’s filled with racial abuse…

Observing the Ntokozo Qwabe thing & seeing how quickly foolishness can be mistaken for a cause

Agree totally! But the same should happen to Ntokozo Qwabe no room for him and his types as well! https://t.co/aOP5ObRIes

Why is it so hard to view people as PEOPLE! #MatthewTheunissen & #NtokozoQwabe represent two sides of same racism coin.

SA deserves better!
