BREAKING: Public Protector releases 355-page State Capture report
Updated | By Latashia Naidoo
The Office of the Public Protector has released the highly-anticipated report into state capture, before its 5pm court-ordered deadline. The 355-page document is titled: "State of Capture."
The report was compiled by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela during her tenure.
Earlier today, the North Gauteng High Court ordered the Public Protector to release the state capture report by no later than 5pm today.
The ruling followed the shock news that President Jacob Zuma had withdrawn his application to interdict the release of the controversial report.

Report No: 6 of 2016/17 is titled: "Report on an investigation into alleged improper and unethical conduct by the President and other state functionaries relating to alleged improper relationships and the involvement of the Gupta family in the removal and appointment of Ministers and Directors of State Owned Enterprises resulting in improper and possibly corrupt awarding of state contracts and benefits to the Gupta family's businesses."
In the report, Madonsela says she's uncovered evidence of corruption in her investigation - that must be referred to the NPA.
She also makes a number of recommendations - including that the president appoint a commission of inquiry headed by a judge solely selected by the Chief Justice, within 30 days.
