LISTEN: Authorities investigating the cause of UKZN PMB res fire
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Firefighters of the Msunduzi Fire and Rescue service are investigating the cause of the fire at UKZN's Pietermaritzburg campus this morning.
The campus's William O'Brien residence was in flames this morning.
It's not yet known if students are behind the incident - but the campus has seen days of unrest since Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande said universities would be left to determine their own fee increases for next year, which should not exceed 8%.
Deputy Chief of the Department, Jugathesan Padayachee says three of their fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
