Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly farmer in Ixopo today.
Police say that they were called to scene this morning where 67-year-old Anton Phillip Verwey was found lying face down with two open wounds to his abdomen.
A manhunt was launched by members of several task teams.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the suspects are between the ages of 14 and 24.
"A case of murder and house robbery was opened. Immediately thereafter, the members of the Ixopo police together with Magnum security and the K9 Unit from Kokstad started their investigation that led to the arrest of six suspects.
"They are due to appear in the Ixopo Magistrate Court soon. They took bicycles and laptop computers," he said.
