Zakes Bantwini mourns the death of his father

Zakes Bantwini is mourning the loss of his dearest father, who died at the age of 65.

2023 got off to a gloomy start for Zakes Bantwini.

The Grammy-nominated artist shared the heartbreaking news of his father's passing.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the singer said his father died on January 4 in the evening. 

He died at eNkandla in KwaZulu-Natal at the age of 65. 

“We are devastated by the loss of our father," read the statement. 

Zake's father leaves behind nine children and his wife. 

His children have described him as a man who was fun to be around. 

"We will miss his sense of humour, his resilience, and how he always made sure we follow our culture. He will be deeply missed for his kindness and loving nature,” read the statement.

Nandi Madida, wife of Zakes Bantwini, shared a heartfelt post to her father-in-law, thanking him for his love.

"I am eternally grateful by the kindness you showed me as your daughter in Law, you truly made me feel like your daughter in love,"she wrote. 

She also described her father-in-law as someone with a sense of humour. 

"You had a wicked sense of humour that we will miss dearly, thank you for making me feel like family and welcoming me so warmly. You are with your creator now. Thank you once again, I am eternally grateful. 

"Love and thoughts are with my husband @zakesbantwini , family and all your loved ones during this very difficult time," she wrote. 

American DJ, Diplo, was among the first to send his condolences to Zakes and his family. 

"Praying for you brother", he wrote.

Minnie Dlamini commented: "My deepest condolences Sbari". 

Award-winning music producer, Oskido, also sent his condolences. 

"May memories of your dad provide you some comfort as you mourn his passing,".
