Lorde is making a comeback in 2025. The singer has announced that her new single, 'What Was That,' will be released soon.

"My new song 'What Was That'. Out soon," Lorde wrote on Instagram.

'What Was That' is her first official song in almost four years. "Baby's back," one fan commented.

Lorde made the announcement a few days after her surprise appearance at Coachella. She joined Charli XCX onstage for a performance of their track, 'Girl, So Confusing'.

Billie Eilish and Troye Sivan also made appearances during the 'Brat' star's set.

“Lorde summer 2025!” Charli XCX declared during the set, leading some to believe that the 'Royals' singer has big music plans.

Lorde's last album, 'Solar Power', was released in 2021. The album produced hits such as 'Mood Ring' and 'Fallen Fruit'.

In a three-minute voice message to fans shared before her big single announcement, Lorde hinted she was ready to make a comeback.

"I just wanted to say hi, because everything is about to change. These are the last moments where it’s just us, which is crazy. But so right. I’m so ready.”

She also reflected on her Coachella performance.

"I felt so real and so solid. I can just feel all that I have shed to be able to be in this the way I am right now. I was like, ‘It’s dusk, in the desert, enjoy it b****h.’"

Lorde shared a snippet of 'What Was That' on her TikTok page.
