Tyla, Sean Paul's music video channels 2000s dance culture

Tyla and Sean Paul's music video for their 'Push 2 Start' remix is officially out and she's keeping the 2000s nostalgia going.

The 23-year-old is listed as a co-director of the video alongside Taylor Fauntleroy.

"I got my first set of credits on this one," she wrote on Instagram.

The 'Water' hitmaker was also one of the stylists on the shoot.

Like the original 'Push 2 Start' music video, the remix's visuals pay homage to 2000s music culture.

It also evokes Paul's 2003 'I'm Still In Love With You' video, which Tyla's remix also samples.

"Tyla is bringing us back to the 2000s celebrities that we didn’t experience because we were kids, as Gen Zs," a YouTube user commented.

Another user wrote: "Tyla is a true STUDENT of the 2000s greats (like Rihyoncé) cause the way she pays homage to them while maintaining her own identity & style... We are looking at a SUPERSTAR in the making."

'Push 2 Start' is featured on the deluxe edition of Tyla's debut self-titled album. It was released in October 2024.

The song earned the South African singer her second hit on the Billboard Hot 100, a music chart in America that ranks the country's top songs.

Speaking to the Buzz at Essence magazine's Black Women in Hollywood event, Tyla was asked about what it was like working with Paul and Skillibeng, who are both from Jamaica.

She collaborated with Skillibeng on 'Jump', which also features American rapper Gunna.

"It's exciting for me. I love playing around with music and Sean Paul is an icon. You know his voice when he comes on a song. So, just being able to collab with not only him but Skilli, all these artists that have such unique voices and culture, I feel like it is important," she said.
