TikTok users help revive an old Mariah Carey classic

It’s not a wrap for this Mariah Carey song! Her 2009 single, ‘It’s A Wrap’, just got a huge streaming boost after it became TikTok’s latest sound trend.  

The song featured on Mariah’s album, ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’. A remix of the track, featuring Mary J. Blige, also featured on the deluxe edition of her 2014 album, ‘Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse’.

Mariah’s “lambs” – as her fans are called – are helping bring the song back in 2023. A sped-up version of the chorus is doing the rounds on TikTok.

Users are lip-syncing and dancing to the song while letting their ex-lovers know that “it’s a wrap” for them.

According to Vibe, the song experienced a 1000% increase in weekly on-demand streams in mid-January.

The song reportedly reached nine-million streams on Spotify this week.

Its popularity continues to grow and Mariah’s fans are hoping the new interest helps put the song back on the Billboard 100 chart.

Mariah and her daughter, Monroe, took part in the TikTok trend recently. Monroe pretended like she was in studio singing the song before Mariah burst in and stole the mic from her.

“POV: every time I try to practice some vocals,” the video is captioned.

The clip has been liked more than 18-million times on TikTok.

Mariah also took part in the #ItsAWrapChallenge in January. She danced to the song with some of her friends while on holiday.

Some social media users joked that Mariah is letting her ex-husband Nick Cannon know that it is a wrap for him after he fathered five new children with five different women in 2022.

Nick – who shares Monroe and her twin brother Moroccan with Mariah – became a father of 12 last year.

Mariah is not the only one having fun on TikTok with her kids. Nick shared a video of himself dancing to a sped-up version of Chris Brown’s ‘Run It!’ with Monroe and Moroccan.
