Tate McRae reacts to Britney Spears comparisons
Updated | By Music Reporter
The 'Sports Car' singer says being compared to Britney Spears is like comparing someone to Michael Jackson.

Tate McRae has been compared to Britney Spears on numerous occasions, but the pop star is split on the comparison.
"I find that flattering and scary," she told the Independent.
"It’s such a crazy statement because no one can compare to Britney Spears. It’s like comparing someone to Michael Jackson. That’s the blueprint!”
Like Spears, the 'Greedy' hitmaker is both a singer and dancer, but she is forging her own path in the music industry.
It's a smart move, especially with stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Rodrigo thriving in their own lanes.
"I keep it real in my songwriting, it feels pretty transparent... I think a lot of the time people want to hear either like ‘I’m super in love’ or 'f*** you, I’m better without you’,’” she told the Independent.
"No one wants to admit they miss an ex, especially if the love was super toxic – or that they learnt to love like that. In a really masochistic way, you start to fall in love with the really painful parts of it.”
McRae released her third studio album, 'So Close to What', on Friday, February 21. The album is already breaking music records.
It was streamed more than 42 million times on its first day of release. Not only is it the biggest debut of her career but it is also the biggest debut by a female so far in 2025.
The album also jumped to No. 1 on the Global Apple Music chart. It remained at #1 for three days.
According to a post shared on McRae's Instagram Stories, she also tied Swift's record for the female artist with the most songs charting simultaneously on the US Pop Radio chart.
'Sports Car', the third single released from McRae's new album, is currently at #28 on the ECR Top 40 with Styles (Brought to you by CTM).
The Canadian singer has been teasing the album for several weeks.
"Making this album has been the most beautiful and exciting journey," she said on Instagram.
The Canadian singer also released a new song and music video on Friday. 'Revolving Door' trended at #1 on YouTube in America. It gained nearly three million views in three days.
